Windows 2000 VPN to Astaro general question

Hello *,

I have a general question I would like to ask on this board, before I am wasting much time on finding out, that it is not possible at all.
What I would like to do:

                          VPN                                                             
                |-----over Internet-----|

Linux------Astaro---------Router------ Win2k
Server   .1.1  PPPoE    PPP   c.d.1.1
a.b.1.2

In words:

I would like to connect my Win2k Pro client over a VPN to my Astaro FW on a ADSL link with PPPoE (dynamic IP with dyndns) and have access to the LAN behind.
For the VPN I do not need NAT, just the tunnel.

Is this possible at all with Astaro?
And if, which possibilities do I have?
A VPN client on Windows box or build in VPN of Win2k?
How does it work?
Does it work over Ethernet to the Router or does it need its own Dial Up connection?

    if I understood you correct, 
    you want to hook up yout Win2K Through a router to the internet accessing an Astaro with an official IP adress using VPN to access the Linux Server behind that, is that correct?

    To do this either your windows does need an official ip adress (i.e. using a direct internet dialup) or make sure that you router is capable to handle vpn protocols correctly (so called pass-thru like PPTP-passthruh).

    If this is the case, there should be no problem, just activate PPTP on the Astaro, add a user and setup your PPTP connection on your Win2K Machine and you are set.
