VPN Access from Asia to US

Our single company representative who is stationed in Asia has problems accessing our VPN. We have a US-based webmail service assigned to port 8080 which works fine almost everywhere and allows travelers to use company mail services outside the VPN, but that has not been consistently accessible in Asia (notably China, India, Malaysia). 

Establishing a local domain solely for mail is not an option.

Any ideas are appreciated.

    Hi Mark,
    The reason might be that Internet access in those countries is extremely slow, my friend was in China and India and he has told me horrorstories about it taking up to 10 minutes to get a single e-mail up on Hotmail.

    You should ask him which error messages he gets.

    In response to you, using a Win2k dial-up networking to our US-based vpn, his login times out after about :45 of trying to authenticate.

    There's no mystery to us about the connectivity issues overseas, including the quality of the connections, IP architecture, long-distance int'l networking, tech support, etc.

    We're hoping to find either a client-side configuration idea, or any service/ISP in those countries with better access. UUNet is our ISP, but has no PoPs available in India.
