PPTP with Astaro2, can't ping all hosts

First of all I wounder, why the pptp daemon gives
so strange IP addresses for PPTP clients.
Subnet 255.255.255.255 instead of 255.255.255.0
or whatever.

But I don't think that's the reason for my problem.

It looks like I can't ping all hosts in the remote
subnet.
e.g.
195.48.99.2 (ping OK 100%)
195.48.99.4 (no response, no route to host 195.48.99.255)
195.48.99.5 (the same)
but 195.48.99.10 works perfectly

In my Package config, I allow all kind of traffic
inside the lan(and the PPTP-clients) and
broadcast is also granted.

PS: by the way. why is my PPTP client trying to broadcast with 255.255.255.255 { netbios }?
instead of 195.48.99.255 (the actual BC-address)

thanks in advance

  • Hi, I have the same problem, but if I try to ping from the ASL directly I can't ping neither to some hosts in my internal network. I think the problem is in the ASL it self instead of the vpn configuration
