I have followed the ASL instruction on the board and got PPTP tunnel to authenticate using Windows 98 and Windows XP.
I can successfully ping by IP address in both directions, by name (WINS) and browse Internet.
I can only do this by first logging onto the system as the local user and then staring the VPN session over the dial-up.
However in both cases I can NOT logon to a domain (Windows 2000). I can do a \servername\share even though it takes FOREVER???? It's even slow for a 56KB.
I get a message "No domain controller found".
In my firewall ruse I let the following through: {netbios}, DNS, LDAP. Is there any other ports that need to be added in order for me to be able to logon to a domain controller.
My clients have WINS/DNS hardcoded in the VPN connection. I have even addede the following line to lmhosts with no luck:
x.x.x.x servername #PRE #DOM omainname
Do I really need this? (I don't think so?) I also have some Windows ME clients, are they the same as Windows 98?
Please Help.
