Can't connect using PPTP with Win2k

I can't connect with Win2k to the RoadWarrior PPTP connection I created, below is the debug output.

Win2k will get as far as "Authenticating username and password..." then I get an "Error 778: It was not possible to verify the identity of the server."

    I should have put those items in there before, sorry.

    I have Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2 and all the updates since that was released.

    I have tried all the different VPN settings in Windows 2000 I can with PPTP.  I get the same error everytime.

    Astaro version is 2.014.

    I have Simailar problem.

    I´m running Astaro 2.100 and trying to connect whith WinXP (same result w win2k/sp2)

    what is: "file: unrecognized option 'NO_AUA_OPTS_YET' " ??

    I have a Win2KProSP2 128bit client using PPTP with ASL 2.014. If you have no luck getting it working let me know and I'll take a look at the settings I have on the client and the F/wall.

    I am fasing same can't off problem did you check the following "how to config vpn" article and i also noticed the authentication.txt ??? i hade a very busy week so i didn't try it out yet

    For the record here are my Win2K Pro SP2 DUN settings for connection to an ASL 2.014 server:-

    General: IP address of ASL f/wall
    Options: Display progress, Prompt for name and password etc
    Security: Typical, require secured password, require data encryption (disconnect if none)
    Networking: Type of VPN server PPTP, settings - all options enabled. I've also entered the IP adresses of my DNS server and enabled use remote gateway.

    I hope this helps someone to get their PPTP connections working ! YMMV.

    I got folowing error meaasge when i try to connect whith Win2k/sp2 or Win XP vpn client
    I have trying different configurations.

    Are you using the same u/p on both machines?  Had this happen with a user, and changing the password made it stop happening.  possibly something in the initial password encoding?

    Couple things I don't see anyone mentioning:

    1)  In W2K VPN setup, under "Typical Settings" (security tab), do you have "Automatically use my Windows logon name. . ." checked?  Uncheck it.

    2)  Networking tab--instead of selecting a type of VPN server I have it set on Automatic. . .works for me.

    3)  Options--Include Windows logon domain is unchecked

    4)  On ASL--did you define your users under Definitions=>Users as well as defining the VPN?  And did you set up either a VPN pool or give the user a specific IP address that's in the LAN side of your ASL box?

    5)  Do you have a different LAN subnet on the LAN side of ASL and on whatever network your client machine is connecting from?  For example, if your ASL LAN network is 192.168.0.xxx and your client machine has an IP address, even in a different place, that has similar 192.168.0.xxx address, you'll never connect 'cause it doesn't know what's a local route and what's a VPN route.

    Just a few more things to check.  Some may be obvious to you, but nobody mentioned them.

    We had a similar problem and it went away, when we changed the password of that particular user. I used a password generator and somehow it was to complex....
