PPTP and VPN settings

Hi,

I've read several posts from people how actually have managed to configure the VPN so that one can connect to network shares and have access to other network resources.

That is what I've tried to accomplish the last few days - without success. If someone could find the time to give me a few hints along the way I'd greatly appreciate it!

The problem is that when I connect to the firewall using pptp the client can only ping the firewall and noting else. When using ipconfig on the client it shows me that the default gateway is the same IP-nr that the client has been given from the firewall. The subnet is 255.255.255.255, is this really correct?

    Just be sure that you use encryption of same strenght in both ends. I have experienced same problems when trying to connect with 40 bit enc to 128 bit astaro.

    My w2k also uses default gateway in remote network. This makes all traffic flow through vpn.

    You can hack your routing tables to route only vpn traffic through vpn interface. I made this by first opening vpn and then adding the routing table entries with persistent option '-p'. You can't add entries unless your virtual vpn interface is up.

    I can't remember the exact entries i had to add, but i can check it out.

    I don't think it's an issue of encryption strength because the connection is made and successful. I did however experience the problem before installing service pack 2 at the client (w2k).

    I'd greatly appreciate it if you could check which entries to add to the routing table. (And tell me how to add them!?).
