I have tried to estabilish VPN connections to with couple of configurations.
I have managed to create ASL-ASL connection and PPTP connections with win98/NT/w2k. But creating connections to any other VPN product is unsuccesfull.
Our clients already have own firewalls provided by their ISP and they don't want to invest into another product. Their ISP's won't give any support to ASL.
One way to solve this could be with licensing. ASL Box1 (with full license) connects to ASL Box2 (with vpn license only).
If you have only VPN license you could disable proxy servers and other unneccessary stuff. Just like you disable virus database updates from unlicensed ASL boxes.
This way we could buy one astaro security firewall licence into our office and buy 10 vpn client licenses and put them into our clients offices.
