Why can't I surf to certain websites from behind the firewall? I've got the IPSEC VPN stuff turned on and it is working. However, when I surf to www.slashdot.org it fails to connect. I even tried telnetting to www.slashdot.org on port 80 and issuing a GET / command to get the HTML text of the page I should be able to see via my normal web browser.
My setup is IPSEC VPN turned on, coming from the DMZ network, both the internal and DMZ networks are NAT'ed to the outside world. When I turn off IPSEC on both sides everything works just fine. When it's on I can't get to a few websites. I actually have made a solid TCP connection to the site since I can see this from doing a netstat command on my client in a DOS box and it says "connected".
What is the deal? The only thing that could be causing this is the Free/SWAN IPSEC component since everything goes back to normal when I turn that off.
What is causing this and how do I fix this?
