pptp client problem with win98se

Hello All

I am facing problem while connecting win98se
with upgrade dailup 1.4 still the connection 
is not made.I am getting the error from my pptp debug log as

I made shared-level-access in my win98 network control properties but still I am getting the same error

Pls help me out

    your windows 98 box is sending the machine name with the username. to change this, go to network settings->Client for MS Networks and change the setting for the "user/share level access".

    this should fix it.

    this is such a common problem and so many people are facing this problem...Is ASL going to do something to help resolve this ??? will ASL allow creating username in the local database so the format can be "domainname\username" ????

    hi comeanddance,

    this is a little bit of a problem, since the encryption and handshake (challenge-response) used in MS-PPTP rely on the username as part of the 'seed'.

    So, when the Win98 side has the username set to "\" and ASL cuts it down to "", there is a handshake problem.

    Maybe I can work around this somehow, i'll queue it up in the task list along with PPTP-Radius auth support ...
