I have two FreeS/WAN IPSEC tunnled in the Net - Net configuration.
The tunnel is up and correctly routes the two protected networks.
I am having problems with NetBIOS (SMB) from a Win98SE to Win2000. I have NOT tried Win98SE to Win98SE (I don't have the equipment at the moment)
All other traffice (that I've tried) works correctly between the Win98SE to Win2000 (and reverse) This includes ping and PC Anywhere on TCP (5631 / 5632)!
Using tcpdump I've monitored this traffic:
IP 10.0.0.203 is Win98SE
IP 10.0.2.10 is Win2000
Packet Filter rules are set with both private subnets with full (any) access to each other.
12:07:32.871260 10.0.0.203.netbios-ns > 10.0.2.10.netbios-ns: udp 50
12:07:32.871408 10.0.2.10 > 10.0.0.203: icmp: 10.0.2.10 udp port netbios-ns unreachable
A Win2000 to Win2000 using CIFS works correctly on port 445. Corretly maps drive... (net use h: \10.0.2.10\C)
Is NetBIOS over IPsec from a Win98SE box broken? What is sent on UDP port 50?
Thanks
Jake
