IPSEC with Windows 2000 Client?

I've read the VPN-HOWTO, but there is no reference to using the windows 2000 Client with Astaro's FreeSwan implementation. Seeing how it's absurdly complicated, has anyone even gotten this to work? I've read in posts that Astaro supports win2k ipsec, but I'm failing, and wonder what they mean by 'support'

Anyone/astaro have a howto?

HI

We have successfully configured WIN2000 Ipsec to connect to ASTARO.
First you must install MS Encryption pack for WIN 2000.
We suggest that you look at jixen.pripod.com/win2k-screen.html.On this side you can find Windows 2000 Ipsec setup.

The trick is, that if you try to configure host to net configuration, you must set ip of your host as left gateway tunnel endpoint on WIN 2000.

Does Windows 2000 need to have a STATIC IP address in order for this setup to work ????

Yes you need a static ip address to run W2K IPSEC Tunnels.

More help please!

can you clarify the following please?

(1) On the W2K client. Where do I place the internal IP address? The screen shots above don't detail this, only the subnet. Bearing in mind I have the ISP IP address on the interface adapter.

(2) Should the right side private space be a host on the left side private network or should it be a different private subnet.?

(3) If its a different IP subnet, where is this network assigned on the Astaro box.?

Anyone know or had setup a solution with Windows 2000 IPSec and Dynamic IP?

Or if there is a free solution (also for commercial use) in substitution of W2k Ipsec?
