VPN-Tunnel & Proxies (Advanced Configuration)

OK folks, this one's a bit advanced:
We're testing a setup with two subnets on different locations. Both subnets are connected via VPN over the web.
In subnet '1' reside an internal web server and an internal nameserver. The Astaro in subnet '2' is unable to do DNS caching because it seems to be unable to send DNS queries over the tunnel to the internal nameserver. However, other boxes on the same subnet can. The HTTP proxy has similar problems. It's working fine with external Internet Sites, but if I try to reach the internal webserver via the proxy, it does not work.
Ideally, the Astaro '2' shall be DNS cache for the boxes in its subnet and it shall query our internal nameserver which in turn queries our ISP's nameserver. It is also supposed to do HTTP caching for both external websites and our internal website over the VPN tunnel.
Any ideas?
