Explain Sophos UTM 9 web protection request processing

Hello Everyone,

 

We have a setup in our environment which provides Web filtering based on certain list defined by us. Its a Software based model(ASG Software) UTM 9 . I want detail on how a request is processed once it reaches at gateways. how all web protection options are used and website is decided to be allowed or denied by it. how a tag Is used and how Sophos check its database to validate the request.
