Is there any way of protecting Android devices via the UTM?
If the android devices are connected via wi-fi "behind" the UTM and passing the traffic through the UTM, it will be scanned by the applicable UTM function/proxy.
Yeah... I am aware of that.
What I am looking for is virus protection of the device when it is connecting to other WiFi access points that are not mine.
There is a Windows antivirus agent that can be installed on workstations and laptops that gives this sort of protection when not connected to the network behind the UTM. I was hoping for something similar to this for Android devices.
I am aware of the free Android Sophos antivirus (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sophos.smsec&feature=search_result&hl=en) but would prefer something that worked with the UTM.
Is there anything like that, or is there a plan to have this functionality sometime in the near future?
Thanks for your replies Scott, even if they did not offer a solution.
To be honest, I would have thought that with the proliferation of mobile devices these days that the UTM would have a way to secure them, for both home user and corporate environments. Apparently I was wrong...
I will try to make the time to put in a feature request for this functionality.
Sophos has a free app in Play Store for Android devices (that you pointed out), but unfortunately, does not connect or interact with a UTM device. [:(] I had some issues with that program blocking things it should not have been blocking, such as incoming calls that were not blacklisted, and thus, dropped that app.
It would be a great feature to have though for Endpoint to interact with the UTM for Android devices. There is a Mobile Management tool now in UTM, but I'm sure that would be a costly endeavor.
