Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue I am experiencing.
When I logged onto my Windows Vista machine this morning, Windows alerted me that my antivirus was disabled. At this time, the Sophos shield icon was showing Sophos as enabled and everything seemed ok. A few minutes later however, I received the following error from Sophos:
Sophos Endpoint Security and Control Service Failure
Sophos Endpoint Security and Control is not currently protecting your computer.
I notice the Sophos Anti-Virus service is not started. I have tried to start SAVservice manually both via services.msc and the net start command. Neither works. Here is the output error from 'net start savservice' (run as Administrator):
C:\Windows\system32>net start savservice
The Sophos Anti-Virus service is starting..
The Sophos Anti-Virus service could not be started.
A service specific error occurred: 2147500037.
More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3547.
Sophos was working fine up until now. I recall a few days ago I did change the settings to enable the detection of suspicious files on-access, however Sophos worked fine for a few days after that. Sophos seems to have just randomly disabled itself. Last night my computer was shut down perfectly fine, so I doubt files have been corrupted that way.
EDIT: I have reviewed the Sophos Log files, and the last few lines from today state:
20141108 133117 Loading SAV Interface returned the error 0xa004022d: One of the detection data files could not be located.
It is not telling me which one cannot be located specifically.
Can anyone shed any light onto this issue and the best way to resolve it?
thanks,
Richard
