Endpoint Protection: Desktop/Laptop/Server?

Hey All..my current A/V Suite software expires in a couple of months, and considering moving all my computers over to the Sophos Endpoint Protection in conjunction with my Home UTM. I already installed it on one of my desktops (Windows 7) to toy with it a bit.

A quick question regarding the settings on the UTM: is there any applicable difference when making selection in "Manage Computers" - "Type" when you select one of the three options (Desktop/Laptop/Server)? Are the protection schemes/IPS definitions different for each? Or is it purely for inventory tracking?

I have two W8 Laptops, two W7 Desktops, and a third W7 Desktop that I use as a server (with an open port). Would I see any benefit (security wise) from listing the "server" as a server?

Thanks!
