Backoff Malware

Hi,

I was hoping if someone could tell me if the most current definitions contain the signatures required to determine if the PoS "Backoff" malware, and its variants, have been installed - or, if someone could point in the direction of the proper SOPHOS page to find out?

Hi, WD, and welcome to the User BB!

You can check on the Sophos KnowledgeBase where Bad passwords on pos terminals lead to card stealing backoff malware is the first item presented when searching on "backoff."

Avira also blocks backoff. My standard recommendation is to use the Sophos Endpoint with Avira the single-scan choice in the UTM.

I do the opposite. I use sophos AND avira on the edge and a third party a/v on the endpoints.; you get the best of all three engines then. You are paying for two a/v engines..why not use them..[:)]
