endpoint client stopped updating a week ago

No IPS,
No country blocking,
No other antivirus, etc, running,

Restarted client,
Restarted UTM,

updated to current ver 9.2x

Cant see anything on the why/how front.
Trying to choose "update" from the client icon, it states;
downloading 12e.................0x000.dat, than, alway 52 seconds remaining,
no progress is done, but it simply changes to download complete and then...
no change....

Any ideas ?
Tried re-installing client = no change either, so maybe its complete unistall/clear, etc.. just to get it ok again.

  • Did a search on the internet on the exact filename;
    a hit did actually come up;

    sophos4.davidson.edu - /Warehouse/

    It probably means something, but can't out what, because I can NOT download that file from there either. Trying other .dat files, similar in size = OK, this one = nope !
  • Emerson, that's just the file on the Davison University's website.  The sophosupd.net file downloads fine via both the Transparent and Standard/AD-SSO proxy.  If you're not seeing anything in those four logs, then you may have a problem elsewhere.

  • Pity that the "elsewhere" seems to be here;

    Fact; I can't download "that file" from either Sophos direct or the Davison U.
    Fact; I CAN download the other .dat files from Davison U.

    Really driving me bonkers not figuring this one out.
    Other stuff download's ok also, other sites, etc,etc working, just the sophos update that's dead.

    Looks very much like the old thread I was referring to;
    https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/77/t/64707
  • In that linked post, rfarcas says, "I’ve tried various machines and I can’t get the same failure. I’ve tried downloading the file through IE, and that’s fine as well. That indicates that this isn’t a Warehouse problem."
