Sophos Enterprise Console to Manage UTM Endpoints

Hello,

If you buy Sophos UTM Endpoint Protection licenses can you use Sophos Enterprise Console to manage those endpoints rather than using the UTM Endpoint Menu ?

Sophos Enterprise Console can download and distribute the software and remove infections.

The UTM Endpoint Protection features are basic in comparison to Sophos Enterprise Console.

Can you use the UTM Endpoint license key in Sophos Enterprise Console ?

    i dont think so, because for enterprise console you need a username and password. with the utm license file you dont have a password.

    Partner Deep Dive: Sophos UTM Accelerated 9.2 - YouTube (at 20:21) mentions copying the hostname and key from the UTM to the Enterprise Console in the context of Web Protection and the practicality of managing "hundreds of endpoints" through the UTM and "thousands" through the Enterprise Console.

    This is similar to having SEC-managed endpoints with SWA-managed Web Control, which has been around for years.

    The Endpoints will not be visible inside the UTM, however they will all follow the Policies in the Default Profile.

    I don't know licensing details.

    Sorry but I didnt find this in 9.2 .. guess it wasnt implemented ?

    Michael, the licenses are priced differently and are not interchangeable.

    jlan, this is implemented as Michael described it.

    Hi jlan, it is implemented in 9.2.  You also need to be running the latest version of SEC.

    Endpoints are installed and managed in SEC as before.

    Turn on Endpoint Protection and Web Control.
    Go to Endpoint Protection > Computer Management > Advanced

    The two pieces of data under "SEC Information" need to be copied and pasted into SEC in the appropriate policy.

    The Endpoints do not appear in the UTM UI, they are not managed by the UTM.  However these SEC managed endpoints should now get web policy from the UTM.  They will only get the Default Profile (first tab), not any additional profiles you create (since they are not in the UI you cannot assign the computer to a different profile).
