PCs slow to boot (15 minutes) - SavOnAccessControl errors 81, 82 85

We have a couple of machines running version 10.0 on Windows XP SP3 which exhibit the following problem:

Computer takes ~ 15 minutes to reach the CTRL-ALT-DEL screen from cold start. Windows System Event Log contains a mixture of Event ID 81,82 and 85 from SavOnAccessControl.

The location is a Doctor's surgery, in rooms where patients are seen. The startup delay has been flagged with us as a patient safety issue.

What we've tried so far is:

  • Reprotect computer using Console
  • Manual Uninstall, Reboot (reboot took ~ 2 minutes), Protect using console
  • Manuall Uninstall, Reboot (reboot took ~ 2 minutes), Delete Sophos folder from C:\Program Files and Sophos files from TEMP folder, Protect using console

Has anyone seen this before or have a suggestion as to what we could try next?

Thanks,

Stuart.
