Browsing Speed & Web Protection

As posted in an earlier post, we are thinking of using the End Point Protection provided in the UTM instead of the Sophos Enterprise Manager.  I have removed SAV from a computer that was installed by EM.  I then used the End Point download from the UTM to install SAV. Both installs had Web Protection enabled.

After making the change, it seems the browsing speed is noticeably slower. When I disable Web Protection, it seems to speed things up (back to normal).  The computer I am testing with is a desktop that sits behind the UTM.  

I guess I am at loss to why there is a difference.  I believe I am installing the same product but with a different update configuration.

Any thoughts on why web protection would noticeably slow down the web browser?

    Assuming that the EP configured via SEC and the EP configured via UTM have essentially the same configuration then there should not be any noticeable difference.  You would be going to different cloud servers for configuration and for categorization, but these speeds should be comparable.

    If it is noticeably slower and a problem I would raise an issue with support.
