Endpoint Protection not enabling

Every single time I attempt to activate Endpoint protection on a new install I get the following error "No response from Sophos LiveConnect" "Do you want to wait 30 more seconds to finish the request"
(See Attachment)

I have already:

  • Waited 10 full minutes clicking the retry every time it pops up. 
  • Created a transparent proxy exception for sophos live connect / sophos Services 
  • Configured firewall exceptions. 
  • Tried with outbound firewall and web filtering disabled.


Is there something I am missing (I am coming from Untangle)

I am running 9.105-9 Software version. The log is completely empty from what I can see.

  • Seing the same thing on a customer's utm, guessing it's a 9.105 issue, started a support case, will let u guys know what I find... I think there's a bug.

  • Update:  It is a known bug on 9.105, they're working on giving me a fix or workaround, I'll report back once I have that.

    Thanks for the update Bruce! I was going absolutely nuts trying to figure out how I broke it. I just deployed this in my Home Test Environment to replace Untangle since they have frankly gotten too greedy with paid features, especially by not offering a full home edition. 

    I originally used Astaro for awhile, but couldn't stand it due to the high latency (due to black/whitelist query), however since they have finally allowed offline black/whitelist caching I have been dying to try it again. I enjoy the fact sophos gives you 12 free endpoints, so I can drop the monster that is SEP [:O].

  • Actually found that it's not a 9.105 bug per se; apparently they are having an issue with LiveConnect (the cloudy service that the UTM has to register with) ... apparently LiveConnect is not totally dead, as systems I manage for customers that were activated long ago show active Endpoints on them (and the Endpoints have to talk to LiveConnect), but apparently whatever component handles new registrations is busted.   I'll post on update once support updates me.
