Sophos Anti-Virus Manually updating machines

I have read the following article:

Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows: manually updating machines using the IDE files

Due to company policy some of our machines cannot be connected to the internet. However I have been given the responsibility of updating the AV definitions manually.

The above article outlines the steps to follow to achieve this and it does work.

However my question is this:

After manually updating the IDE files I check the Product Information in the drop down list of the Help Menu.  Under the heading Anti-Virus and HIPS 'Detection Data' is correctly displayed, as is the 'Detection identities', corresponding with the information displayed in the IDE File table. Why doesn't the 'Last Updated' entry update?  The old date is displayed and is very disconcerting.  Anyone have any clues how to get this to change?

  • I believe he's talking about Endpoint Security and Control, not the UTM version.

If I'm right: this forum is about the UTM version of Endpoint Protection, most of us do not have experience with the server version. You might get more support here: SophosTalk community - SophosTalk community

  • OP, I don't believe there is any way to manually update an offline UTM Endpoint client; if you need this capability, you may want to talk to your Sophos VAR/Reseller about purchasing the "classic" standalone Endpoint Product.
