Endpoint doesn't install because of "ghost" third-party software

I had Trend Micro Worry Free Business installed. I uninstalled it via the control panel (because previous experience had shown that Sophos couldn't remove it). Re-booted the machine, tried to install Endpoint, failed at Third-Party stuff.

Downloaded a Trend Micro Uninstaller, ran that, try sophos still failed.

Installed Trend, then removed Trend.

Tried Sophos, still failed. Is there a way to bypass the thrid party check during install?

I had a similar experience with Norton, which is not supported by the Sophos uninstaller. Check out Endpoint Security and Data Protection: removal of third party security software.

Is your version there? Without some input from Sophos, it's hard to guess what your problem might be. I note that, in order to re-install Endpoint, folks have had to delete the Sophos directory after uninstalling. What happens if you track down any Trend Micro directory and delete it?

Yes, version 7.x (detect only)

Now I just have to see what is being detected, it sure would be nice to know what they (sophos) are looking for?
