Migrating RED Settings

Is there a way for me to seamlessly migrate the RED settings from one firewall to another?

Restore a config backup from the old UTM, otherwise you'll need to recreate the settings manually.  If manually, make certain you have the unlock codes for the REDs from the old UTM to be able to set them up on the new box.

I get the feeling I'll have to do that!

Can't restore from an old config as hardware is different and I don't want to screw any of it up.

We've started from a clean setup with this one as we've been using backup and restore ever since v6 lol

I've successfully done backup restores from UTM 120's to UTM 220's running v9. No issues and I had several RED 10's in the config.

Scott and Drew have it right, Kiran.  You can migrate a configuration to/from any appliance, VM or other computer.  All that's necessary is to upload the new license afterwards.

Think of WebAdmin as a GUI used to manipulate an underlying database of settings and the configuration demon as a program that reads the database to create objects and configuration files and then writes the command line code that really does all of the things that the UTM does.  The only thing limiting a hardware change is the number of NICs - the new device must have at least as many as the old device.

Thanks for the replies everyone, in the end I just enabled RED Management on the new UTM and added the RED devices, used unlock codes to add them to interfaces.
