Rename RED Branch Name??

We have a UTM220 running firmware 9.100-16 and about 12 RED10 devices. The reds are named "reds01, reds02 ..." etc. I would like to give these more descriptive names, but I see that in the WebAdmin there doesn't seem to be a way. Am I missing something?

Is there *any* way to do this, even via a manual config/xml edit? When we get an alert that "redXX is down" it would be really helpful to not have to dig up my notes on which site that actually is.

    I don't think it's that easy, Andreas.

    Hi, luckman, and welcome to the User BB!

    Before you start this, make a backup and restore from it to be sure it's good.

    In fact, I think, for example, that the reds0 virtual NIC disappears when you delete the RED.  That would mean that the interface you defined for that location is deleted.  That means, in turn, that the rules you defined for that interface will be deleted.  Correction: Read on to learn that the vitrual NIC does not disappear when you delete the RED.

    I would suggest doing these one at a time, making notes about what to do so that you can write a prescription for yourself to use with the following REDs.  When tests show that the first one is correct, make another backup and proceed with the next one.

    When you're done, please share your prescription with us here.  Of course, don't hesitate to come back here with questions.
