Forcing unrestricted port for NTPD (ISP Blocks NTP)

Hello all,

My ISP blocks all traffic inbound and outbound on port 123/NTP.

If I login to the UTM console I can successfully run ntpdate if using the -u option (timeout otherwise).  Based on ntpq -pn it doesn't look like my UTM is able to reach any of the NTP servers.

Is there a way to do some sort of NAT in UTM so that I force the NTPD requests to use an unrestricted port, or replace NTPD with an alternative that allows for this option such as OpenNTPD.

Thanks!

  • You can try, but I don't think that will work as a long term fix.

The other way would be to use one of your network devices as an NTP source and block all other NTP requests in the firewall.
