IPv6, Webfiltering and Netflix

There appears to be an issue with IPv6 and Netflow where on any device, the thumbnails refuse to load, this is the scenario: -

1. IPv4 only and web-filter - All netfilx images load as they should, starting a program works instantly.

2. IPv4, IPv6 and web-filter - blank thumbnail images for Netflix, some load about 2+ minutes - starting a program takes a while, but starts in the end 2+ minutes for it to start.

3. IPv4, IPv6 and NO web-filter - All netfilx images load as they should, starting a program works instantly.

At the time when trying to get Netflix working in scenario number 2, the following appears frequently in the logs, there will be about 20+ then it's evidenced that it's finally switched to IPv4.

httpproxy[19668]: id="0003" severity="info" sys="SecureWeb" sub="http" request="0x96a7800" function="connect_server_timeout" file="dns.c" line="870" message="Connection to occ-2-2061-1100.1.nflxso.net using IPv6 timed out [60s], re-trying to connect using IPv4"

Any suggestions?

  • I cheated - I had a spare wireless router and created a whole different subnet - the router will only provide IPv4 addresses, and is connected back through the UTM - which then has a bypass WebFiltering for this IP range.
