Change Country Blocking From Block To Warn?

I'm a home user and block most countries. Once or twice a day I may stumble on a site while searching around and decide to override the Country Blocking settings. I would prefer to be presented with a Web Filter style Warn page that has a Proceed button instead of needing to login each time. Is it possible to get this behavior using command line changes or some other way? Again I'm a home user so I don't need to worry about a warranty or support contract -- I'm willing to fiddle around. Thanks.

  • no. i don't know an option to create a warn page for country blocking.

country blocking is working at packet level, independent from webfilter, so there is no option within webfilter to unblock country.

  • Instead of selecting "All" when blocking a country, I normally configure "From."

  • Thanks Bob this helped alot

    cheers

  • Hold on.  If country blocking is set to "from", then country blocking is disabled for web filtering.  For home use, I assume that safe web ftering is the primary purpose for implementing UTM.  It all depends what he wants.

  • There are so many good things that are spread out around the world, Doug, that it's difficult to say what countries you can block outbound.  More trouble than it's worth for most everyone, I would suggest.

  • Because nearly every major website has tentacles to servers you never see, you should review your logs to see whether something important is being blocked behind the scenes.    If a website has unexplained odd behavior, these hidden links may be a reasin why.  It may also ratify your resolve to block aggressively.

My worst experience was when an employee went to a church website to check funeral directions.  It was infected and tried to invoke hidden content from Ukraime.  Fortunately, the UTM APT logic fired, and the attack was blocked.   I worked with the church to make them aware of the infection.
