Amazon Web Filtering Setting and Network Protection - Streaming

Hey,

I spend several days - with the settings of the UTM 9. I could stream Amazon Prime Video on two smart TVs for 11 months - until an update end of November 2016. Since than - nothing is working... I can select videos - but they will not start to stream.

In none of the protokolls any restriction or filter action is shown. I just noticed - only when I completly turn off the web filtering - everything starts to work fine again. As soon as I turn on web filtering - Amazon will stop. But only on Smart TV - Firestick and Desktop Computer are still working.

I tried pretty much all kinds of options on/off within the web filtering area... none could Amazon start to work. I assum it is the same issue with any kind of streaming provider.

Any ideas what is blocking the actual streaming? I get a message after 30 seconds waiting loop - network bandwith is low... but I can't continue. I do not want to turn off completly the web filtering - there must be somewhere an option.

  • Hi, Björn, and welcome to the UTM Community!

Do you have the 'Bypass content scanning for streaming content' option selected on the 'Misc' tab of 'Filtering Options'?

If it was selected, we'll need to consider the content of the log (Protokoll) file.  Open the Web Filtering Live Log and try to watch an Amazon Prime video.  You probably won't see any blocks, but you will see that some things take a long time.  If you're not sure what to do based on what you see, post several lines so that someone here can get you started.

    Cheers - Bob
