Quick question before I reset and start over

Hi, new here.  Go easy on me.

Been lurking for a bit.  Found the "Rulz".  Very enlightening.  However, I still cant get port forwarding to work on anything.  I have simulated setups based on confirmed positive postings.  I have tinkered so much that I may just need to pull the cord and do a fresh reimage.  Before I do, can someone confirm this.  Does it matter, where the internal interface lives, ie does it have to be on eth0?  I know it defaults there.  The reason I ask, because its just the one thing that I have not messed with to get my forwarding working. (I have my external net on eth0 and internal in eth3, just kind of happened that way).

I have disabled literally everything, at least the stuff I can turn off and on to troubleshoot and I just cant to seem to get forwarding working.

Additionally, Before I set this up again, just curious if anyone has seen a loose setup doc out there, a basic walk thru, or post even that walks new users through the preferred next basic setups?  Say the next 10 to 15 steps right after the initial quick start guide / wizard run thru?

Thanks in advance.  Great community you have here.  Hopefully I can work out my kinks and stay.
