Priorize one internal interface

Hi all,

 

I've 2 internal interfaces on a Sophos running UTM 9.4.

Each int. is dedicated to one department.

 

(How)Is it possible to priorize the Bandwith when connecting to the internet?

example.

 

Dep1 is connected to eth1

Dep2 is connected to eht2

 

Both departments start a download.

Dep. 1 should now get Prio for the internet traffic.

 

I don't like to enable Bandwith limit, because if Dep. 1 doesn't need the bandwith, Dep. 2 should be able to use it.

 

Can you help me with this issue?

    Not possible without Bandwidth limits, Kai.  If both departments were on the same interface, you could create Bandwidth pools guaranteeing bandwidth to one department, but there's no way with two, separate interfaces.

    Hi Bob,

    it's not a problem at all to merge these 2 lans.

    I seperated them, because i wanted do do the traffic prio above.

     

    Can you tell me how to do?

    Once you figure out how to recognize the group that gets a Bandwidth guarantee, the trick is to assign the up/down speeds of your WAN connection to the down/up speeds of the Internal interface in QoS (opposite! - a download to the External interface is an upload from the Internal interface to the user receiving it).  You then make a Bandwidth pool guaranteeing upload speed to the selected user(s).
