Using Applications like Dropbox and Skype Without Proxy

Hello,

I need to enable programs like Skype and Dropbox with in my LAN and have not found an easy solution to do so. After checking the Web Protection logs i created a couple of rules for the applications(see below). After digging round on the internet for a while it seems that this can be solved by setting up the SOCKS proxy setting inside these apps. However a number of the devices we are using are portable and will be taken outside of the LAN for use elsewhere.

Is there a way to create exceptions that will get these apps to work with out the use of a proxy?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chris

  • Chris, I have no problems whatsoever with Skype or Dropbox from my iPhone.  I don't use any Exceptions for Skype and here's all I use for dropbox.com:

Show a line out of the Web Filtering log file for each of these apps.

    Cheers - Bob
