SOPHOS IS BLOCKING OUTLOOK INCOMING AND OUTGOING MAIL

Hi Guys,

I created a HOTSPOT for our guest user.

They are complaining that they cant receive or send email using there outlook.
I checked there email settings they are using POP3 and there companies web server.
I added there web POP3 and SMTP server in the FILTERING OPTION>EXCEPTION.

But still they can access there email.

I check the webfilter logs, if its blocking the server but its showing blocked.

Thank you.

  • You will most likely need te create a firewall rule like this:

    Source: your guest subnet
Services: Email messaging (this is a group that consists of the majority of mail protocol services, you could instead also use POP3 and SMTP if email messaging opens up too much ports)
Destination: Internet IPv4 (if you allow any server, or you could create a list of hosts that should be reachable so only those are accessible).

And if you currently do not have a NAT Masquerading rule for this subnet, then you will also need to create one otherwise no internet access will be possible.

  • Hello,

I already add a Firewall Rule for GuestNetwork  to allow Any service to Any Network.
But still, our Guest cant recieve or send email on his ourlook.

NAT Masquerading is ok, our guest network can access the internet.

    Thank you.

  • You have been looking in the webfiltering log to check why pop3 and smtp is blocked. You will not find this in the webfiltering log. In stead you need to look in the firewall log as pop3 and smtp will nog be going through the webfiltering.

Can you get any information (perhaps a line from the full log (not the live log)) that shows more information about what is going on when the clients try to reach a mailserver?
