Is there a way to prioritise traffic on a wan interface?

I have 1 WAN interfaces and 2 Internal Interfaces. One of the Internal interfaces is for a seperate LAN, I have a DNAT and Masq Nat rule setup for the 2nd internal Lan as that uses one specific Ext IP for itself.

What i want to know is there a way to prioritise the WAN traffic going to each Internal LAN interface?  I want one LAN to have priority over the other with the WAN bandwidth.

I know i can set QOS class's but how would i go about applying this to the different LAN's?  Would i need to use VLAN's aswell?

Thanks

JK

  • I don't understand what traffic you want to favor, John.  If it is what I guess, then you won't find any way that you will be happy with.

  • I think Ive get the best i can get out of my WAN using QOS, one question for the Interfaces QOS status tab what option should i use on the WAN, LAN & RED interfaces in regard to Limit uplink, Limit downlink and upload optimizer?

Ive read the help files description of these but im not totally sure what each one does in depth.  On WAN ive enabled Limit uplink & upload optimizer, i did have Limit downlink enabled too but after doing some more reading up of what the meaning of that option is I decided to disable it.  I didnt like the idea of traffic being dropped at all.

  • John, if you would like a suggestion, please insert pictures of the Edits of the relevant Interfaces on the 'Status' tab, traffic selectors and QoS rules.
