Understanding Traffic Selectors

Someone please explain. When creating a Traffic Selector, if I want to throttle download bandwidth from ftp.example.com to User1 on the LAN, what should I use for Source and Destination in the Traffic Selector?

Does "Source" refer to the origin of the traffic? (The FTP site in this case)

If I also wanted to do the reverse of this and throttle UPLOAD bandwidth from User1 to ftp.example.com, would the Source and Destination be swapped?

    In the following, you need a DNS Host or DNS Group for ftp.example.com.  For the user, you can use a DNS Host if DNS is configured correctly in the UTM and in your Windows Server and the user's machine is a member of the domain.  Otherwise, if the UTM is doing DHCP, you will want to create a Host with static mapping.

    Throttle downloads: On the "Internal" interface, put a Bandwidth Pool and 'Specify upper bandwidth limit' for traffic 'ftp.example.com -> Any -> User1'.

    Throttle uploads: On the "External" interface, put a Bandwidth Pool and 'Specify upper bandwidth limit' for traffic 'User1 -> Any -> ftp.example.com'.

    So do you recommend always using Bandwidth Pools instead of Download Throttling?
