ActiveSync push through Sophos UTM not working after disabling ISA

we recently changed the following setup:

INTERNET --- ISA reverse proxy --- Sophos UTM --- Exchange

to:

INTERNET --- Sophos UTM --- Exchange

do note that we don't use the webserver protection of the Sophos UTM.

After changing the setup ActiveSync is working, but without push to the phones. I suspect this has something to do that the ActiveSync connection is now terminated over the Sophos UTM instead of directly at the ISA reverse proxy.

Apple mentiones increasing the timeout on connections on your firewall - is there such a setting in the Sophos UTM (iOS: Troubleshooting Exchange ActiveSync 'Push' issues - Apple Support) ?

Could this be the cause or am i going the wrong way?
