Hey guys,
I am looking for a clever solution and hope to find one here [[;)]]
My employer (research institute) is currently building a tall measurement tower in the middle of the brazilian rain forest. All data gathered there is being transmitted via satellite uplink to our institute. Currently, the sat uplink is limited to 900 MB/ day, until the bandwidth is dramatically reduced by the sat provider. The crucial downside of the bandwidth being dramatically reduced is, that there is a lot of remote management going on and it gets almost impossible, when the limit kicks in.
We are therefore looking for a clever bandwidth control solution, preferably with Sophos UTM, as this is also our institute's firewall solution.
What we'd like to have is at least a notification, that the limit is about to be reached for the sat uplink interface.
Another possible scenario: the "measurement network" could be in a seperate VLAN and have it's own interface on the Sophos UTM. When the traffic/ day reaches a certain amount, the interface's bandwidth is reduced and the people responsible are getting a notification.
Any other idea is highly appreciated... [[;)]]
Thanks and best regards
