ping nat'd without reason

I am able to ping though my firewall although there is no apparent NAT rule allowing this traffic. I have a few NAT rules for certain services, but ICMP/ping are not among them. Any idea how the pings might get through?

I tried unchecking all the ICMP and ping options, but they still go through.

Unfortunately our most recent upgrade as broken the ability to view log files.

Thanks
Alan

  • Hi,

    1. UTM version #?

    2. Are you pinging from the Internet, or to the Internet?

    3. you can view logs on the console;
    cd /var/log
    tail packetfilter.log

  • Thanks Barry. I had "gateway forwards traceroute" checked. If I uncheck that, pings stop.

    1. UTM ver: 9.210-20
    2. Pinging from private lan to DMZ net.
    3. Doh, forgot I could view the logs that way. Nothing showing up related to the pings however.
