Tablet - Galaxy Tab 4

Hi all,

Weird question. First off. I have myUTM running in Hyper-v. I have wired and wireless devices. Also an AP for wireless connectivity... I've figured out how to get the Steam and Uplay game platforms working. Plex...Netflix on myWDTV etc... all thanks to this forum and google. However...

We bought my daughter a tablet for Christmas. Both my wife and I use android phones... we have no problem connecting. Yet the UTM does not like her tablet. It will block it from WIFI... no internet, no gaming, no plex on lan... nothing and it's not consistent either. Sometimes will work...

She took her tablet to Grandma's and everything worked on her router... no issues. Come home and it's like she's quarantined... sometimes... 

I checked firewall log and it looks pretty normal. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

    Is this a Sophos branded AP?  If not, then it wouldn't be the UTM causing an issue with the Tablet connecting with the AP.  

    Check the Frequency Band settings on the Tablet and AP.  If the AP is set to only allow connections via 2.4GHz, but the Tablet is set for 5Ghz, there would be no connection, for example.  

    If it is a Sophos Branded AP, then your first thing to check would be the Wireless Protection log.  

    If connecting, but not passing web traffic, check the Web Filtering Log.  Then you can check the Intrusion Prevention log.  This is key, you have to check all applicable logs, not just the Firewall Log.

    It's the home use version of the software. the AP is not a Sophos AP (Should have clarified) - 
    This is interesting.... 
    Reboot the UTM.... and the tablet connects fine... 
    Reboot the tablet and the UTM stops it in it's tracks. It always gets an IP adddress and strong signal from my office, my AP is only 2.4Ghz range. 
    I'm on Sophos version 9.305-4

    If I look at the IDP log - I see snort.
    If I look at the web filter log (it's on)... I see nothing.

    Could the UTM be negatively impacted by the Sophos updates? Should I be looking to backup UTM, fresh install 9.3 and restore?

    I got the same tablet, with UTM 9.3 in Hyper-V,
    no issues here,

    are you sure it's not the AP?
    What AP do you have?
