Uplink balancing troubles.

Hi,

I have two ASG220's (failover) on 9.205-12 and I am having trouble with the uplink balancing.

I work in a hotel with staff living on the premises so i have three vlans: Office, Guest and Staff and I have two outgoing connections.

What I want to do is balance them all over the both connections and give a guaranteed bandwith to the office and more importantly the guests.

I havent got to the guaranteed bandwith yet because i cant get them to balance on both connections, according to the dashboard one is always maxed out and the other is almost at zero.
My understanding is that they both should be at weight 100 and i shouldn't need any multipath rules for them to balance properly.
The weird thing is that if I put down the connection that is maxed out the other one does take over.

One thing you need to know is that i am pretty new to Sophos ans the install was made by someone before me with zero documentation of what he did.

    It sounds like senior management needs to create rules and consequences for employees that "steal" bandwidth from your guests.

    Binding outbound web requests to different WAN connections for guests and staff in Uplink Balancing is a good way to separate traffic.  Bear in mid that all web traffic handled by Web Surfing has a source of the IP of "External (Address)," so you may want to consider NOT putting the Guest network in 'Allowed networks' in 'Web Filtering' so that you can simply route the Guest traffic out the other WAN connection.  Click on my name beside my Cyrano avatar to send me an email requesting "Configure HTTP Proxy for a Network of Guests."

    Also, you might want to Download Throttle traffic by Source/Destination for guests and/or employees to prevent any one person from using all of your bandwidth.  You will need a traffic selector using a services group that you must create, named, for example, "Web Surfing Responses." This group should contain the response service for each of the services in "Web Surfing."  "HTTP Response"={80->1:65535}, "HTTPS Response"={443->1:65535}, etc.

    Hi,

    Well senior management is only me, but I am supposed to master anyhting electronic in this place so i am strugling to find time for this.

    So binding specific traffic to a specific wan connections is really a second choice.
    I really want a real load balancing with QOS for the Guests and offices and whats left for the Staff.
    So if I go back to what I was saying in my first post have a look at the wan connection traffice for the last 24h. (I put a screen shot as atachement)
    It clearly uses one connection or the other and never does any load balancing. I do not have a clue of why it swapped last night.

    Have any ideas?
