can i create a firewall rule based on username as Source and not network or IP address ?

If you use the Sophos Authentication Agent, this might be possible.
Otherwise: No, a firewall rule is always based on IP.

If this is a dialin-user (vpn) you can use the 'username(user network)' object as source.
Otherwise may be possible like scorpionking wrote
