Automatic QoS and Custom QoS Play Nice?

I read in an old thread that if you have the Automatic QoS features enabled, you don't want to define additional rules, or vice versa.  Is this still true in v9?  

Trying to get VoIP as solid as possible.  Will I benefit at all by selecting Download Equalizer/Upload Optimizer if I've already set download/upload QoS on VoIP related services, or is this just going to cause issues?

    Jim, did you see my comments in several, older threads that Anti-DoS Flooding has been the culprit when it wasn't the VoIP provider's gear?  If those aren't the problem, and you already are throttling all download traffic except VoIP, then the issue only can be resolved if your ISP is capable of doing QoS to favor VoIP traffic to you.  If they can't, then you're right that the solution is a separate connection.
