Crazy? Sonos Question

Probably a newbie question, but I installed UTM (Home Edition) for the first time last night, and have everything pretty much up and running.  I am having an issue with the 2 Sonos players on the network though when using Tunein internet radio.

I watched the firewall log, and saw that when I choose a radio station, the packet on TDP 8000 was being dropped, so I added a new rule to the firewall, and everything worked.  However when I changed stations a different TCP port was being dropped so I needed to add that one.  I started chasing ports (I have about 5 or 6 stations I switch between), and then realised I must be missing something really fundamental.

As a test I created a SonosHost ->any->any rule, and that let me change to any station I liked, which is what I expected, but would rather have the units less exposed.

I don't use Spotify or any of the other services, just Tunein

Any thoughts / other info that I should supply?

    Different servers use different ports.
    If the ports are in near range, you can use port range not "any". Example 20000:20030.
    Or use the source port

    Thanks - My issue is that some of the servers are on 7883 up to ~11000.  Which is the lesser of two evils - sticking the Sonos with ->any or opening up such a big range?

    7883 up to ~11000 is better than "any" [:)]
    but check if your device has a static source port
    Considering  (someone can help better cause i don't know this device) if the device is used only for Live Radio and none of other networks services, let to go to any

    Hi, if that is an outgoing rule, you're not really "exposing" anything.

    I also have a few sons systems myself 

    1 x Bridge
    1 x Play 3
    1 x Play 5

    Like you quite rightly say. The outgoing port changes to suit the weather.

    2 choices

    1.) permit all for a day or so to build a mean average of stations required and open necessary ports to suit.

    2.) As these sonos don't really have an operating system as such, and are not prone to virus's nor hacking attempts. I personally would just allow full access i.e Sonos>any>Internet. as i do for all 3 devices.

    As Guru Barry has very rightly said, these are only outgoing rules only and exposing nothing.

    Many thanks to all for the help.  I am going to go with the Sonos>any>Internet option, as I have more of these to add around the house, and don't know who might listen to what.
