blocking large groups of ip addresses / importing ?

With all of the hacking going on, I am looking at how we can easily block ip address ranges.

I know this is as easy as adding an entry in the firewall to block a network range, but I am hoping we can utilize a service such as  "www.countryipblocks.net/country_selection.php"  or similar, where we can download  a set of data, listing specific country ip address ranges and block them from incoming firewall.

I would need a way to import this data.  Is there a way to do this, or do you have another suggestion?

Thanks!

  • Hi there,

Since v8 the UTM does have the ability to completely block traffic to & from specific countries. The blocks in v8 are in both directions though I understand one of the 9.x versions (possibly the beta) adds the ability to differentiate between incoming & outgoing traffic.

Look under Network Security >> Firewall >> Country Blocking.
