We are trialing the sophos utm firewall and am wanting to know some good sources to start gathering info on this. Like to know if these have some kind of good cli as well.
The WebAdmin interface makes the UTM very easy to administer once it's been configured. It also makes it very easy for an experienced person to configure. Someone that knows Cisco and TCP/IP can learn how to make it sing in a few months, but ...
If this is a try-and-buy where you expect to keep it in place if the trial is successful, you'll benefit from working with your reseller to design the initial configuration and do the initial setup. If this is a preliminary trial where you have several months to work through things, reinstalling from scratch several times, then learning while interacting here can make sense.
Using the cli can invalidate any warranty. I won't run any cli commands that change something on a client's machine unless I have received an email from a Sophos engineer authorizing me to do so. You really need to coordinate this with your Sophos reseller.
what about a user manual or getting started guide or something similar? I assume all troubleshooting activity(packet captures, vpn logging, blocks/permit's etc...)are all packaged in gui then.
