constant firewall issues

I am constantly having issues where the firewall is blocking my internal network from accessing internet locations (ie apple time servers, gmail from ipad, facebook from ipad).  It seems like I'm in a constant battle with the firewall logs.  This is an astaro home setup and I primarily implemented astaro for attack purposes.  I'm thinking about creating a rule in the firewall for internal network - any port - any network location.  Does anyone have any comments on this rule, or any recommendations.  Thanks in advance.

    The easiest way is to create a internal network->any port->internet and set this to log and allow traffic. Then you can identify and create specific rules for the traffic right above the "internal network->any port->internet". By doing this you should end up -eventually- with most of your traffic being matched by the individual rules and not the generic one.
