RDP Performance Degraded

Hi All-

I've played around quite a bit with this issue and have searched the Internet to no avail. My issue is as follows:

I am attempting to get Microsoft RDP to work by DNAT-ing through my WAN. I have another firewall (Untangle) in production and have had no issue with speed. When I replace the Untangle firewall with UTM 9 the connection is degraded to the point where I am unable to use the session. The screen refresh rate is very slow and keystrokes and mouse movements take ten seconds or more to register. The machine is a virtual appliance with the default two cores and 4GB of RAM. It is nowhere near swapping.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi, pcdude, and welcome to the User BB!

It sounds like you have a (virtual) hardware issue. What happens if you change to Intel e1000 NICs?

Also, whenever something seems strrange, check the Intrusion Prevention log.

which hypervisor are you using hyper-v or vmware?

Hi guys,

I am using VMWare ESXi as my hypervisor, and the NICs are intel e1000. I tried pretty much everything that I could to improve the situation (added RAM, added more vCPU, etc.) and still am having trouble. I'll hop over to the intrusion prevention log and see what's going on.
