problems connecting to Minecraft

Hello I am currently running Sophos UTM home edition 9.003-16.
when my son tries to play Minecraft he is unable to see any servers to play online. when i bypass the firewall and plug straight into the cable modem he is able to see the servers. i am unsure as to why Astaro /Sophos would be blocking this. do i need to forward the ports ? He is not hosting the server just trying to play on other people's servers. 

I noticed the same issue with Steam and it being unable to login to the Steam Network as well.

    By default all the ports are closed
    Do a NAT rule if your son host the server 
    If you wan just to connect with servers over internet, just do a firewall rule
    Source> Internal Network, Service (TCP/UDP 25565) Destination> Any. Action Allow and log traffic
