problems connecting to Minecraft

Hello I am currently running Sophos UTM home edition 9.003-16.
when my son tries to play Minecraft he is unable to see any servers to play online. when i bypass the firewall and plug straight into the cable modem he is able to see the servers. i am unsure as to why Astaro /Sophos would be blocking this. do i need to forward the ports ? He is not hosting the server just trying to play on other people's servers. 

I noticed the same issue with Steam and it being unable to login to the Steam Network as well.

    thank you for your response. 
    under web protection>> Web Filtering>> i have it set to Transparent mode. i have created also just now i have created a rule under 
    Network Protection > Nat
     Traffic Selector :
    to allow IPV4> minecraft (port 25565) to external Wan address
    then dsetination address is my sons PC.

    now i have to wait till i get home to test this later this evening since i am not at home at the moment. another thing is i only chose TCP for 25565 i hope that is correct.
